TIME'S UP! Texas Treats Give Away

One of the reasons I disliked living in Utah and Wyoming so much had nothing to do with the cold or the culture--but rather with the lack of good Tex-Mex cuisine. Imagine this: a woman born and mostly raised in Texas trying to find authentic spicy salsa and crisp flautas in a town where the only reputable Mexican restaurant was also run by the same owners as the local Chinese restaurant. I swear the Mexican rice was the same as the Chinese fried rice, peas and carrots included, except the Mexican rice had tomato sauce in it. The salsa was even less noteworthy--having the reminiscent taste of ketchup mixed with Tabasco sauce.

I wish when I lived out West that a true Texan gal like me would have known about Texas Treats, a woman owned gift company specializing in natural and authentic Texas-themed gifts.

According to Texas Treats, they are the "Largest Purveyor of Texas-Themed Food Items."

A couple weeks ago, Texas Treats contacted me to review their Austin Basket, a basket of delectable food items containing Texas-shaped tortilla chips, salsa, sour cream and habanero pretzel nuggets, Texas snack mix and a Texas candy bar (or other candy depending on the heat here!). May I add that the salsa was the best darned salsa I have ever had. Definitely beat that ketchup Tabasco mix.

The coolest part (besides the Texas-shaped tortilla chips and the salsa) was that Texas Treats even printed custom labels with "Screwed Up Texan" right across each of the various food items. So, the chips read: Screwed Up Texan Tortilla Chips. I'd buy that. Really. Just think of the possibilities if you had your business name or family name printed instead. I can see these items being the hit of your next get-together, family reunion or party! Texas Treats even ships to military addresses for the Texan soldier in your life.

Texas Treats would now like to treat you!

I am a Texas gal stuck in Utah. I really miss good TexMex. I dream about going to Papasitas or La Margarita because I can't really good salsa anywhere. I'd love to try the Salsa Ranchera or the Peach salsa. They both sound delish!

Expat From Hell said...

Nah. I live in Texas, so I can get the stuff easily enough. Some one else should have it. I, thought, would like the 6-pack of Shiner Bock that I KNOW you have hidden underneath the table!

Best to you.

I LOVE the Texas Flag apron, and of course the Texas chips & salsa. I am a through-and-through Texas girl living in Mississippi. I feel the pain you once felt of living in a state lacking of true Mexican food!
